Welcome to Spotlight. This guide walks you through the four things you need to do to get up and running — in order. The whole setup takes about an hour the first time.
Most time-sensitive: Spotlight runs your prompts against AI models on a weekly schedule. Complete Step 1 before your first data run so you’re tracking the right things from day one.

The four steps

Set up your prompts

Review and configure the prompts Spotlight tracks on your behalf. This is the most critical step — prompts you approve are run every week across all major AI models.Go to Step 1 →

Configure your competitors

Clean up who you’re measured against. The system finds all brands appearing in AI responses — not all of them will be real competitors.Go to Step 2 →

Connect your content

Import your existing content so Spotlight can track which of your pages are being cited by AI models, and flag any that aren’t indexed by Google.Go to Step 3 →

Create your first article

Use Spotlight’s content generator to write a GEO-optimised article targeting one of your tracked prompts. Most generated content gets cited within days of publishing.Go to Step 4 →

What to watch after setup

Once your prompts are locked in, check the Overview tab each week and track two metrics:
  • Brand Presence — the share of AI responses that mention your brand, across your tracked prompts and models. You want this going up.
  • Citation Share — the percentage of cited sources that belong to you. You want this going up too.
Avoid changing your prompts frequently after setup. Each change retroactively shifts your metrics, making it hard to measure progress. If you add new topics over time, monitor them at the topic level rather than the global level so your historical data stays clean.
